Africa's Century

The 21st century is for Africa. As an African child and Generation X by definition, i feel duty bound, in the journey of my life time, to contribute to the development of this burgeoning continent through my researched views stimulated by the fast paced and changing global socio-political and economic landscape.

In the quest of soul searching - "Human touch" is desmantled

By Robert Capa's definition i am Generation X (GenX) with a tint of GenY. While i frequently exhange through various social media platforms, i am a proponent of traditional human interface accentuated by the philosophy of humanity and evolution - with the spirit of "hi-touch". I do find time to switch off anything and everything that is electronic including television with the purpose to get in "touch" with myself. I found this to be magical and supernatural having experienced it by default due to personal tribulations.

As Jerry Poras and his co-authors once wrote in their book entitled - High-tech - High-touch; "the world has become intoxicated with technology". By no means i denounce the existence of technology as it has become an enabler of life socially and economically. But here's the fact...its perpetuity is set to change humanity and human evolution as we know it. The era of humans as robots is looming. The studies of Human Genome and Genetics Engineering points to this eventuality.

I picked social media amid other technologies due to its personal temperament and thus an interface with technological gudgets almost 24/7. It is universally known and socially accepted that these social media platforms are addictive. Social media will never cease to exist as a social force, it is up to individuals to equally frequent their "human touch" as much as they frequent their "hi-tech".
