Has Microsoft got what it takes to acquire both Nokia & RIM?

Nokia's CEO, Stephen Elop may have played down speculation that Nokia has been rumored to acquire Research In Motion, the maker of Blackberry, but reality points to open clues.

At the same time, Microsoft is rumoured to have been whetting its appetite on the possibilites of acquiring both Nokia and RIM as it assesses its warchest amid its market position on the smartphones market. What could make sense to Microsoft's boss Steve Ballmer for acquiring these two assets is the imagination of expansive Window's Phone software market. That leaves Google Android's as the imminent competitor with Apple trailing in the US markets. If both Steve and Stephen (pun intended) cast their net wider to emerging markets, chances are high as Samsung wouldn't let loose its grip on the US market. It is premature to speculate on the options as MS has to prove to the market of its Nokia's Lumia Windows' Phone powered smartphone range by the first quarter of 2012. Tech fundis have it that Nokia Lumia 900 may be what Nokia has been dreaming to have to take on Apple.
